Pilníkov Town Hall

Pilníkov Town Hall 2019

The main goal of the design is to offer a new optimal arrangement of what already exists, to fill in what is missing and to point out the underused potential of the building. We consider the main shortcoming of the current town hall to be the layout, which is confusing for the visitor, lacks a logical hierarchy of space and is not sufficiently representative in relation to the role that the town hall plays in the city.

We have purposefully modified the hall with the main staircase, which opens to the center of the building and from which you can enter the adjoining rooms. We fully incorporated the modern extension of the original town hall into the building and used its roof to establish a terrace accessible from the library in the attic.

Cultural and Administrative Building in Neratovice

Cultural and Administrative Building in Neratovice 2018

We proposed to divide the current building of the Cultural and Administrative Center into two. We are thus improving the passableness of the square. We increase the accessibility of individual parts of the building and create an intimate public space, into which it is possible to open the shop windows of a café or a library.

The aim of the design is to make the park “náměstí Republiky” the city center. However, some modernist  schemes cannot be corrected, they can be only understood, think through. By inserting another layer, it is possible to add the urban pattern of people’s behavior to the place and at the same time not to lose the magic of the modernist dream – “life in the green”.

The physical change of the space and the house is not so radical. We work with the essence and analogy of urban spaces and we fundamentally change the feeling of the center of Neratovice. From the library you can see “across the street” to the cafe, from the cafe to the town hall and the library.

People make intuitive decisions on the basis of what is easily visible, they observe, rest, meet neighbors, go to the theater or cinema, handle their routine agenda at the town hall, know where the representatives of their city are based.

An intelligible urban public space is created. We want to lean on the modernist dream. We need a park and trees around a solid ground. We are thickening the park and proposing a more intense contrast between “city” and “nature”. From all the houses of the Center you can see or perceive the park, which closely surrounds the solid square and creates harmony with it. You can still choose. The house and its contents will not enliven the entire park, which continues through the sparse city. We are not trying the impossible. Where we expect and plan the action, we open the Center on a solid carpet of paving surrounded by the original park.

Construction of the Andromeda apartment complex

Construction of the Andromeda apartment complex 2019

This is a design of the residential complex of 500 flats in the vicinity of the KVP housing estate on the outskirts of Košice. Three lines are inserted into the sloping terrain of the area. Two lines of houses and one line of the street between them. The curves of the lines respond to the shape and morphology of the plot. The line of towers is adjacent to the tall high-rise blocks, the line of lower apartment buildings is adjacent to the park in the valley. The park square is located in the southern part of the design. The whole development culminates towards Moskevská třída, where the height of the towers reaches the height of the neighboring buildings. The line of towers leaves the possibility of vistas, the line of low houses leaves the possibility of passage.

The layout of houses offers a high quality of a wide range of apartments, the vast majority of which are oriented in two directions and all have a loggia.

Education Center Rudolfinum

Education Center Rudolfinum 2019

Currently, the Education Center uses Suk Hall for its programs. However, this complicates the use of the hall, which is intended primarily for music production, places higher demands on the preparation of the hall and the transport of things needed for the events. At the same time, however, those who attend the program find themselves in the generous and beautiful premises of Rudolfinum. They enter the building by a representative staircase, meet in a large hall and spend most of their time in Suk Hall. This spatial and dramatic experience is an essential part of the participants experience.

We therefore consider it crucial to design the premises of the Education Center, so that they are able to compete as much as possible with the current experience that the participants of the program have.

We present a design that will make the Education Center an autonomous and distinctive part of the building with a clear operating scheme and spatial qualities that develop the dominant structure of the building.

Apartment House for Social Housing in Pilníkov

Apartment House for Social Housing in Pilníkov 2018

The design of the apartment building must meet the subsidy requirements for the construction of social housing. The contour track of the house is identical on three sides to the boundaries of the building plot. After verifying possible layouts, we propose a space-saving option of a three-storey building with a basement. In doing so, we endeavour, with regard to the northern neighbour, to extend only slightly the property towards the garden.

Dispositions are largely limited by the size of the plot and by the housing sizes determined by the subsidy requirements. The internal common areas are designed economically, while maintaining the optimal dimensions of staircases and corridors. The lift meets the standard dimensions for barrier-free use. The staircase and the elevator are located to the north gable wall.

The main entrance is located on the ground floor. An access corridor leads to one-bedroom apartments. On the 1st floor there are two apartments with a size of three-room apartment. On the second floor, the flats are divided asymmetrically into larger four-room apartments and smaller two-room apartment. All flats have the possibility to be transformed into barrier-free areas. They have adequate dimensioned corridors, doorways and even bathrooms. The layout of the 1st and 2nd floors can be swapped or used in only one of the solutions for both floors. This decision may be taken by the investor in further stages of the project, as appropriate.
